Tokyo Jazz Festival, launched in 2002 has grown to be Japan’s largest international jazz festival and will be celebrating its 15th year in 2016. The festival is held early September at Tokyo International Forum and its surrounding area in the very heart of Tokyo. Every year, nearly 80,000 fans gather together to enjoy a weekend full of jazz music. More than 200 artists from all over the globe join the festival and perform in various styles. The festival theme is to celebrate jazz “beyond borders, beyond generations” and dispatch new culture from Tokyo through music.
Tokyo Jazz Festival also delivers jazz through out Japan by touring artists who appear at the festival to different cities in Japan. The festival also presents concerts and events throughout the year to enhance jazz music scene in Japan and also brings Japanese artists overseas to introduce Japanese jazz abroad.
